An illustrated web experience of the history of ballet through the perspective of the development of the pointe shoe: Interactive Prototype ↗

This illustrated timeline experience guides users through the history of the pointe shoe in parallel with the history of ballet and how we view female dancers. The web experience was designed to be interacted with circuitously in order to reflect on the highly interconnected history of ballet (the dance, the art form, and the production) to the pointe shoe, which had and was influenced by a large range of independent movements, trends, and events. Throughout the experience, I ask users to reflect on how the pointe shoes and ballet represent feminity and the female body.
